You have emotions yes? Happy, sad, angry, scared. We’ve all seen inside out. Now when you trade you need to ignore all the emotions. You might think that’s impossible as you can’t turn them off. No, you’re right but let me explain :
You allowed to have emotions but you can’t allow them to influence your decisions or choices when trading. This is because once you let them take control your whole plan goes out the window.
This is mainly for negative emotions as if you get annoyed you can then revenge trade to potentially make your money back but because your trading off of raw emotion it limits your chances even further of winning the trade. You could also try forcing a trade when you haven’t found a setup or even placing multiple trades just hoping it’ll be in your favour.
Of course you’re going to have emotions while trading but you can’t let it impact the way that you trade. If you start to become agitated or frustrated turn off the computer and do something you enjoy for a while. This means that when you come back to the charts you’ll be nice and calm like this dog
But also positive emotions can negatively affect your trading. For example if you’re very excited to trade then you could enter too quickly and get stopped out. Or you could win 1 trade and become overconfident and enter again to win more money. But if that trade loses then you’ll then lose money.
So you need to create a trading plan that you follow and you have to stick to it no matter what because this will allow you to have the best chances at winning your trades.
Think of it this way as soon as you open up the charts you’ll become a robot. Every decision is made from logic and reason. As soon as you close the charts do whatever you like, only then can you smash your laptop because you lost the trade by a tick / pip.
